I’ll be cutting down the updates to once a week as soon as I get back on my feet.
Hopefully monday will bring a new comic, for y’all. I’m so very sorry for this.

I’m so very sorry for not updating this week. I’ve been busy traveling for the funeral, and getting my head back into the game. It’ll be okay, though, as I’ll get back on track for next week.

On the plus side, while in Texas, I got to catch up with one of my favorite colleagues, John Kantz, and got caught up on the news, most of which I’m not really at liberty to divulge, but it was all good, promising, even joyous.

I also sold twenty-two comic books to about twelve different comic book stores in the Dallas/Denton area. Your best bet at picking up a copy of Black Cats: vol.1 is at any of the Keith’s Comics locations, as well as some of the other locations in the north Dallas area. If you would like YOUR store to carry Black Cats, please ask them to contact me, as I provide reasonable wholesale rates for store owners. A longer list of stores carrying the comic will be forthcoming, as soon as I get my little black book of comic stores back from my parents, since I left it in Bonham. Ooops!

At any rate, please bear with me, and we’ll get back on track on monday. I promise. No, really, I will!

Heads up for all you folks who may reside in central Ohio. The eleventh annual Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo will be held at the Ramada Inn on 4900 Sinclair Road, just off Morse and I-71, This saturday and sunday.

And Guess what? We’ll be there!

We’ll have a table right next to Tom Dell’Aringa of Marooned, an awesome comic!

But Wait, there’s more–we’ll have The FIRST ISSUE of Black Cats: Paranormal Exterminators for sale as well! The first issue collects the first two stories, all packaged into fourty four pages of eight-and-a-half by five-and-a-half inch goodness! And as an introductory offer, we’re knocking 20% off of the cover price! We’ll also have Black Cats originals for sale, sketch cards, and taking commissions, as well!

Could it possibly get any better? I think not!

W.T. decided to tinker around and put up some stuff on his cafe press store for your perusal. I really like the ladies’ cap-sleeve tee, the perfect gift for the paranormal exterminator in your family. Also, in the wake of all those annoying “Proud Parent of” bumper stickers, he came up with one of his own. Its the perfect bumper sticker for parents with low expectations!

Sketch card update…

So, As you know, over the weekend I made some sketch cards for the Treasure Chest, a non-profit organization dedicated to giving toys to kids undergoing cancer treatment. I just heard back from Paul Maiellero, and he sent me this order form to order the card set. As you can see, the price is very steep, but it is for charity, and this set, as it states in the order form, is one of a kind. So anyways, there you have it. More info on the Carlucci auction when it comes available.

Midnight Movies

Last night, W.T. and I went to a midnight showing of “Wolfman” up at the mall.

Now, I must first preface this, and be a bit honest: I cannot recall ever seeing the original Wolfman. Ever. Which is odd, since I can remember seeing all the other Universal Monster Movies. I have no idea why or how I have missed it, but rest assured, that will be remedied as soon as possible.

Because I loved the new one.

Everything about this movie was very well done-the casting, costumes, story-all of it. The mood of the film is great. The design of the werewolf (which I will not divulge) is classic, but updated. It fires on all cylinders, and delivers scares very well. That would be the one thing I didn’t like about the movie. Now, I don’t mind the “scare chord” in horror films, but when the scare chord is designed to blast you out of the seat with a modern sound system, and you are more riled by the sound blast than the actual scare, then you have a problem. This, however, is more a theater problem than a problem with the movie. Still, it’s rather vexing.

I do recommend it, as a fun escapist horror picture. As I understand, since I haven’t seen the original, it captures the flavor of the original Lon Chaney picture, as well as updating it very well.

Comic Creators Alliance

Hey all,

A few weeks ago, at Adriana Vargas’ site, I came across a blogpost about an initiative started by Lora Innes to combat human trafficking, which seems to be on the rise. As such, I was compelled to contribute to the cause, which was in this case, a piece of art.

The People:

We’re a group of Web Comic Creators, who have come together, volunteering our artistic talents to raise money for the purpose of ending human trafficking in the world today.

The Problem:

There are currently 27 million enslaved people worldwide- more than double the number of enslaved Africans during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children every year are sold into slavery, most of it sexual. The US Department of Justice estimates 16,000 victims of human trafficking are brought into the United States every year.

The Project:

Web Comic Creators from all over the world are working together on a single drawing which will be available as a downloadable wallpaper for readers who donate to our fund raising drive!

So, if you have the means, I highly recommend picking up this wall paper. All your help will be appreciated.
